The year 2015 holds a special significance for Ukraine, as it marks the commencement of the “Day of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred,” established by Presidential Decree No. 69/2015 on February 11th. This day serves as a solemn tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who perished during the Revolution of Dignity, commemorating their unwavering commitment to the ideals of democracy, human rights, and the European future of Ukraine.
In commemoration of this pivotal event, the Vilshanska Village Public Library named after Lidia Horyachko orchestrated an historical excursion titled “The Winter That Changed Us” on February 20th, 2025. The primary objective of this event was to honor the memory of the citizens who lost their lives during the Revolution of Dignity while fighting for the values of democracy, human rights, and the European aspirations of Ukraine.
During the excursion, students from the 10th grade of Vilshansky Lyceum engaged with social videos from the National Museum of the Revolution of Dignity. These included poignant pieces such as “We Remain Worthy of Our Heroes,” and the compelling chronicles “How the Violent Dispersal of Euromaidan Happened in 2013: Chronology of Events”, “Evolution of Dignity. Chronicle of December 11, 2013,” and narratives about the events of the late 2013-early 2014 period, which marked a turning point in the modern history of Ukraine.
The event served as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made and the importance of preserving the values for which the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred laid down their lives.
