The joy of receiving a Ukrainian passport for the first time is a significant moment, especially for young citizens like Oleksandr from the village of Zhuravne. This day, February 21, 2024, will be etched in his memory forever, as he received his passport from the Mayor of Khmilnyk, Mykola Yurchyshyn.
The event, held by the Porytskyi Starostynskyi Okrug of the Khmilnytska Territorial Community, was filled with the mayor’s warm wishes for Oleksandr to be happy in his free and peaceful country. Oleksandr, accompanied by his mother, expressed his gratitude and shared his dream of becoming a railway worker, hoping to travel safely with his loved ones across Ukraine.
Before the full-scale invasion by Russia, Oleksandr and his family spent a summer vacation in Skadovsk, creating happy memories that he still cherishes. This experience underscores the importance of preserving moments of joy and the hope for a return to peaceful times where such experiences can be enjoyed freely across the nation.
The Khmilnyk City Council’s Department of Information and Public Relations organized this event to highlight the significance of citizenship and the opportunities available to the youth of Ukraine. The event not only marked a milestone for Oleksandr but also served as a reminder of the unity and aspirations of all Ukrainians.
The presentation of the passport symbolizes the beginning of a new chapter, filled with possibilities and responsibilities. The local government continues to support young citizens in their journey towards realizing their dreams within a prosperous and united Ukraine.
As Ukraine faces ongoing challenges, the story of Oleksandr and his passport serves as a beacon of hope. It reflects the resilience of the Ukrainian people and their unwavering desire to build a better future for generations to come. The city of Khmilnyk, along with communities across the country, is committed to ensuring that young people have the support and opportunities they need to thrive.
We wish Oleksandr, and all Ukrainians, to see the victory and fulfill their dreams in their one and only Ukraine, where the spirit of freedom and the pursuit of happiness prevail. This event is a testament to the strength and unity of the Ukrainian people.
