On February 20th, we commemorate the Day of Remembrance for the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred, who gave their lives to defend the ideals of democracy, uphold human rights and freedoms, and champion the European future of Ukraine. The Revolution of Dignity transformed Ukraine and every citizen. Those tumultuous events of 2014 taught everyone to be empathetic, take responsibility, and defend the independence of their country until the last breath. Today, with war raging in the country, we must remember the sacrifice of the Heavenly Hundred. We bow our heads before the bravery of those who, at the cost of their own lives, defended and continue to defend the right of the state to follow a democratic path.

The Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred began the historic struggle for a European future – it is now up to us to bring it to a victorious conclusion. I sincerely thank all the Defenders of Ukraine who are defending their native land and bow my head before the memory of the Heroes who fought for the freedom of Ukraine with their own lives. May the memory of all those who defended democratic values unite us, give us strength and will to fight for independence.
