The Black Date in Ukrainian History: Three Years Since the Full-Scale Invasion
A dark day in the history of Ukraine – three years ago, at 4:55 a.m. on February 24, Ukraine shuddered from the first enemy missiles on its territory – Putin launched a full-scale war. At that time, Western analysts predicted that we would only resist for 3 days. Only three days, when we could still freely call ourselves Ukrainians. However, the Ukrainian people had other plans. And these three days have lasted for 3 years.
Three years of a full-scale invasion, and a total of 11 years of war with the Moscow occupiers, have demonstrated to the whole world the resilience and heroism of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the unity of the Ukrainian people in the struggle for independence. We are proud of every Ukrainian warrior and thank them for their hard daily work for the Victory of Ukraine.
Three years of terrible losses. Our community has lost 37 of the best Ukrainian defenders during these 3 years, who gave their dearest – their lives – for their native land. Eternal memory and eternal glory to all Ukrainian Heroes. We believe that they have become Angels from Heaven protecting us.
Today, all Ukrainians are praying for Ukraine, for the unwavering soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, for Victory and Peace. The mayor of the city, Ihor CHOPYK, employees of the Borshchiv City Council, employees of institutions and organizations of the community, families of the fallen Heroes, and residents of Borshchiv joined the national prayer. Near the Tomb of the Fighters for the Freedom of Ukraine, a joint prayer for peace in Ukraine, for the Lord’s protection for our soldiers, was held by the reverend fathers Mykhailo MANYKUT, Bohdan BODNAR, Yaroslav YALOVITSA, Volodymyr KREMZA, Ivan YAVORSKY, Hryhoriy PODOLOVSKY, Mykola KIZLYK. During the event, those present honored the memory of the fallen Heroes with a minute of silence and laid lamps to the portraits of the fallen Heroes of the Borshchiv community and to the Tomb of the Fighters for the Freedom of Ukraine.
At the end, the spiritual hymn “God, Great and Only, Protect Ukraine for Us” was performed by the choral group of the folk amateur ensemble of song and dance “Zbruchany” of the Borshchiv City House of Culture (leader Mykola BUDZINSKY). We will definitely win because God is with us, the whole world is with us, the indomitable spirit of hundreds of generations of Ukrainian Heroes adds strength and courage to us.
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦Glory to Ukraine!
🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦Glory to the Heroes!
