Irpin School Health Update: Flu and ARI Cases Continue to Rise

As of February 21st, the city of Irpin is witnessing an increase in flu and acute respiratory viral infections (ARI) among schoolchildren. The health situation requires attention, with 1654 students currently reported as ill. This figure represents 17.8% of the total student population. In response to the rising numbers, six classes at Irpin Lyceum №3 and one class at Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum “Linguist” named after Zarifa Aliyeva have been shifted to distance learning.

The situation in the community’s kindergartens appears to be improving. The number of sick children has decreased from 309 (15%) to 261 (13%). This positive trend provides a slight relief to the overall health concerns within the community. However, vigilance remains important to manage the spread of illness.

“In the past five days, the number of sick children in schools has increased by 143 students. Therefore, I once again urge parents to take responsibility for the health of their children. Even with minor symptoms of illness, it is better to keep the child at home to avoid complications and the spread of infection,” said Yulia Ustych, Deputy Mayor of Irpin.

The Irpin City Council, the Education and Science Department of the Irpin City Council, and various educational institutions like Irpin Lyceum of Innovative Technologies, Irpin Gymnasium “Osvita”, Irpin Lyceum 3, Irpin Central City Hospital, Mykhailivsko-Rubezhivsky Lyceum of the Irpin City Council, Irpin Academic Lyceum, Irpin Academic Lyceum “Mriya”, Irpin Lyceum №1, Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum “Linguist” named after Zarifa Aliyeva, and Irpin Lyceum №2 of the Irpin City Council of the Buchansky district, Kyiv region are actively monitoring the situation and implementing necessary measures.
