🇺🇦 A meeting regarding the verification of citizens residing in radiation-contaminated territories took place at the Representation of the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights in the Zhytomyr region.

In accordance with current legislation, citizens must update their information in the registers of the State Migration Service so that the Pension Fund can make the appropriate payments.

🔴Due to the fact that thousands of people have not found themselves in the registers, a sharp social tension has arisen in the northern communities of our region. The main reason for this situation is that at one time, local self-government bodies did not enter all the data from house books into the relevant registers. As a result, some citizens have lost the right to receive state payments through no fault of their own.

In order to protect the rights of citizens and resolve this problem, the Representative of the Commissioner in the Zhytomyr region, Yuriy Pogoditsky, initiated a meeting with the participation of representatives of Hladkovytska OTG, the Horschykivska community, Korosten City Council, Lugynska village council, Naroditska village military administration, Ovruch City Council, Olevsk City Council, Slovechanska TG, Ushomyrska united territorial community, Barashivska territorial community, Gorodnytska territorial community, Chyzhivska Community, Zhytomyr Regional State Administration, the Migration Service of the Zhytomyr region, the Main Department of the Pension Fund in the Zhytomyr region, and the Police of the Zhytomyr region.

During the discussion, representatives of the communities voiced the existing problems, and the leadership of the migration service and the Pension Fund provided professional comments and explanations on how to resolve the issue of citizen verification in accordance with current legislation. Representatives of law enforcement agencies emphasized the inadmissibility of abuse by officials.

📄 The meeting participants were also informed that the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is preparing changes to the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, which are designed to eliminate existing shortcomings and allow the registry data to be supplemented on the basis of original documents.
