Bila Tserkva Alert: Beware of Fake Letters & Fundraising Scams
Warning: Fake Letters Circulating! Stay Alert and Verify Information!
Recently, the director of a private enterprise in the Bila Tserkva region contacted us to report receiving a letter purportedly from me, requesting urgent financial assistance for our defenders. I am grateful to the head of the company for their vigilance. The letter is fake. Once again, an invalid form, a false seal, and a forged signature were used. This is not the first time these fraudulent activities have occurred.
I once again appeal to all residents of the district, business representatives, heads of enterprises, institutions, and organizations: The Bila Tserkva District State (Military) Administration does not conduct any fundraising! Do not fall for the criminal actions of fraudsters who are speculating on military themes, do not transfer funds to any unknown accounts, clarify the information, and make sure of its authenticity!
Law enforcement agencies have already been informed about the receipt of a new batch of fake letters and are searching for fraudsters to bring them to justice. Everyone will be held accountable for their actions!
In light of recent events, it is crucial to remain vigilant against fraudulent activities. Scammers are increasingly exploiting sensitive topics to deceive people. This includes creating fake letters and messages that appear to come from official sources or trusted individuals. Always verify the authenticity of any communication, especially if it involves requests for money or personal information.
Here are some tips to protect yourself from scams:
- Verify the source: If you receive a suspicious message, contact the sender through a known, reliable channel to confirm its legitimacy.
- Be wary of urgent requests: Scammers often create a sense of urgency to pressure you into acting quickly without thinking.
- Never share personal information: Do not provide sensitive information like your bank account details, social security number, or passwords unless you are absolutely certain of the recipient’s identity and the security of the channel.
- Report suspicious activity: If you encounter a scam, report it to the appropriate authorities, such as the police or the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
The ongoing conflict has created an environment where such scams can thrive. By staying informed and taking precautions, we can protect ourselves and our communities from these malicious schemes. Remember to always prioritize your security and verify any questionable information.
The use of fake documents and impersonation is a serious crime, and those involved will be held accountable. The authorities are actively working to combat these fraudulent activities and bring the perpetrators to justice. We urge everyone to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious behavior. By working together, we can create a safer environment for everyone and protect our resources from being exploited by criminals.
Remember: if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Always double-check any requests for money or personal information, and never hesitate to seek a second opinion. Your vigilance can help prevent you from becoming a victim of fraud. Stay informed, stay safe, and protect your community.
