‼️The development of local and voluntary fire departments was discussed at a meeting in the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration.

A meeting was held at the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration under the chairmanship of the head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Oleg Sinegubov.

Among the main topics of discussion is the development of fire and rescue units to ensure local and voluntary fire protection.

According to the head of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region, Artem Astakhov, in accordance with the Concept of reforming local self-government and territorial organization of power in Ukraine, approved by the order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated April 1, 2014 No. 333-r, one of the main powers of local self-government bodies of the basic level is to ensure fire extinguishing. In addition, in accordance with Article 26 of the Law of Ukraine “On Local Self-Government in Ukraine”, the exclusive competence of village, settlement, and city councils to create fire and rescue units in accordance with the law to ensure local and voluntary fire protection is defined.

At the same time, in 2024 alone, 12 new units of local and voluntary fire protection have been created in the Kharkiv region. During the past year, local (voluntary) fire protection units extinguished 717 fires.

Work on the creation and development of local and voluntary fire protection units continues, which is an important aspect for ensuring an adequate level of citizen safety.

Oleg Sinegubov noted the need for local self-government bodies to develop a Plan for the creation of local (voluntary) fire protection units and Security Centers during 2025-2027 and to take effective measures for its implementation.
