Poltava’s Vaccination Campaign: Leading the Fight Against COVID-19
The vaccination campaign in Poltava has seen nearly 400,000 people vaccinated since its start, with 315,000 fully vaccinated.
The process of vaccination in Poltava was observed by the Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Kirilo Tymoshenko, the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Health and Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine, Ihor Kuzin, and the Head of the Regional State Administration, Oleh Sinegubov. They reviewed the largest vaccination center against COVID-19, located in the shopping center “Kyiv”.
“I would like to provide the example of the Poltava region, as for several months the region has been a leader in vaccination in Ukraine. This helps the region to remain in the ‘yellow’ zone, while there are regions in Ukraine that have already moved to the ‘red’ zone. I hope that the example of the Poltava region will give our residents an understanding that they need to get vaccinated. Vaccination is helping in the fight against the pandemic,” Kirilo Tymoshenko said.
Ihor Kuzin noted the effective and coordinated work of vaccination in the Poltava region.
“Vaccination centers in the Poltava region are an example of effective organization of work. It also involves adhering to infection control rules. This center (in the shopping center “Kyiv” – ed.) will make it possible to administer a large number of vaccinations during the day,” Ihor Kuzin said. “Also, many pilot projects are being implemented in the Poltava region. One of them is the involvement of the rural population in vaccination. We plan to implement this initiative in other regions of Ukraine.”
Oleh Sinegubov emphasized that Poltava had set a record for the number of vaccinations per day – 10 thousand.
“In those areas where the most people have been vaccinated, the fewest cases of illness have been detected. Over the course of a day, we perform more than 2,000 PCR tests, while at the beginning of 2020, only 115 such tests were conducted in the region,” Oleh Sinegubov said. “Once again, I appeal to the residents of the Poltava region: vaccination is necessary. This is the only effective way today to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Currently, the Poltava region is in the ‘yellow’ zone. We must do everything to ensure that we do not fall below.”
In total, 69 mobile vaccination brigades, 112 vaccination points, and 13 vaccination centers operate in the Poltava region on a daily basis.
