Khmelnytskyi NPP Expansion Boosts Ukraine’s Energy Security
⚛ The Ukrainian Nuclear Society (UNS) strongly supports the construction of new nuclear power plant units and, in particular, the completion of Units 3 and 4 at the Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant (KhNPP). This strategic project is of paramount importance for Ukraine’s energy security, national independence, and the overall resilience of its energy system.
💡 The expansion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP is a crucial step towards strengthening Ukraine’s energy infrastructure and ensuring a stable electricity supply for its citizens. The addition of two new units will significantly boost the country’s power generation capacity.
✅ The launch of these two new units at KhNPP is projected to add over 2 gigawatts (GW) of installed capacity to Ukraine’s energy system. This substantial increase in power generation will produce billions of kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. Moreover, it will create thousands of new, high-skilled jobs within the nuclear energy sector and related industries, fostering technological advancements and industrial growth.
⚛ Nuclear power represents a cornerstone of stable electricity supply, and its continued development is essential for robust economic growth, fostering industrial progress, and significantly improving the quality of life for all Ukrainians. Ukraine possesses all the requisite technological expertise, robust infrastructure, and a highly skilled workforce necessary for the successful realization of this vital project. The successful completion of this undertaking necessitates unwavering and consolidated support from the government, international partners, and the broader Ukrainian society.
🇺🇦 Enhancing Ukraine’s energy independence relies heavily on expanding the potential of nuclear energy. The UNS calls for unified action to ensure the swift and effective completion of the Khmelnytskyi NPP project, securing a brighter energy future for Ukraine.
