International Day of Native Language at Oleksandrivska Library

Every year on February 21st, the world celebrates the International Day of Native Language. This day is an opportunity to celebrate the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of our planet and to emphasize the importance of preserving native languages for future generations. At the Alexandrivska Library for children, it was lively and interesting on this day. The library was visited by students of the 2nd grade of the Oleksandrivska branch of the KZ “Oleksandrivsky Lyceum No. 1” (class teacher Chernishenko L.O., with the assistance of school librarian Shtym A.S.) for the language circle “Solovyina, lullaby, let’s unite all language”. Together with librarians, language experts delved into the charming world of language. Those present learned many interesting facts about the Ukrainian language, the history of the emergence of this holiday and its meaning. For the little guests, library employees prepared interesting language tasks, contests and entertainment: “Collect your kalynove miracle”; “My Ukraine”; “Colorful stories”; “Know, love and cherish”. The library turned into a real language platform, where children could explore, create and discover the amazing world of the Ukrainian language. Laughter, joy, and lively discussions accompanied each competition, because language researchers not only competed, but also learned while playing. So, let’s love, respect, cherish and preserve our unique native Ukrainian language!
