Starting January 1, 2025, Ukraine will implement an assessment of daily functioning for individuals. Due to this, the disability period for adults who were scheduled for a repeat review from January 1, 2025, but did not undergo it on time, has been automatically extended to June 30, 2025. However, to interact with government agencies, there may be a need to document this fact.

What is important to know?

• The disability period is automatically extended for individuals who were to undergo a repeat review after January 1, 2025, but did not manage to do so.

• The extension period is until the decision is made based on the assessment results, but no later than June 30, 2025.

• To obtain documentary confirmation, you need to contact the social protection authorities.

How to obtain documentary confirmation?

1. For individuals with childhood disability and individuals with disabilities who receive state social assistance

Individuals who receive state social assistance in accordance with the laws of Ukraine “On State Social Assistance to Persons with Childhood Disabilities and Children with Disabilities”, “On State Social Assistance to Persons Who Do Not Have the Right to a Pension and Persons with Disabilities”, can confirm the extension of the disability period through a certificate of the recipient of assistance. To do this, it is necessary:

• Contact the social protection authority where the person is registered.

• Make an entry in the certificate about the extension of state social assistance until June 30, 2025.

2. For individuals with disabilities who are not entitled to a pension or social assistance

These people can confirm the extension of the disability period with a new certificate for obtaining benefits. To obtain a new certificate, it is necessary:

• Contact the social protection authority at the place of residence.

• Issue a certificate, which will state that it is valid until June 30, 2025.

Where to apply?

To make an entry in the certificate or obtain a new certificate, you should contact:

• Structural unit for social protection of the population of the district, district in the city of Kyiv state administration or the executive body of the city, district in the city council at the place of registration.

• For individuals who are in temporarily occupied or front-line territories – first, you need to register with the social protection authority in the territory controlled by Ukraine.

The procedure for documentary confirmation of the automatic extension of disability is available. To do this, it is enough to contact the social protection authority and update the relevant document. This will allow you to freely use the state guarantees and benefits provided by law.
