Korop Table Tennis Tournament Honors Olga Ovcharenko
🏓🏓On February 22nd, the Korop region hosted inter-regional table tennis competitions dedicated to the memory of Olga Ovcharenko. This event was a heartfelt tribute to a remarkable individual who dedicated her life to sports and community.
Olga Kirilivna worked as a sports instructor at the sports complex. For nearly 40 years, she was undefeated in table tennis. She was highly respected by her colleagues and loved by her students. In memory of this incredible person, a tournament was initiated, which has become a tradition.
The table tennis competitions dedicated to Olga Ovcharenko have been held in the Korop community since 2021. This year’s event was another successful chapter in the ongoing memorial.
Opening the event, sincere and kind memories of her were shared by the head of the community, Volodymyr Kunitsyn, the head of the Department of Family, Youth and Sports, Volodymyr Luchko, and the chief organizer and judge of the competitions, Sergey Ilyushchenko. Their words painted a vivid picture of Olga’s impact on the community and her lasting legacy.
Volodymyr Kunitsyn welcomed all participants, wished everyone good positive emotions, and thanked them for their love of sports. He emphasized that sports are not only the strength of muscles but also the strength of the spirit, discipline, and endurance – qualities that support a person throughout life. His words underscored the values that Olga Ovcharenko embodied and promoted.
🏓🏓A total of 67 young athletes participated in the competitions. The event saw a strong turnout, reflecting the popularity of table tennis in the region. The participants represented a wide geographical area, contributing to the competitive spirit of the event.
Players from the Korop community participated: from Korop, Atyusha, Obolonnya, Karylske, as well as guests from Krolevets, Gorodnya, Koryukovka, and Kudrivka. Despite some participants being unable to attend due to various reasons, the competition was well-attended.
The athletes competed in three age categories, with players born in 2014 and earlier showcasing their skills. The matches were filled with enthusiasm and sportsmanship, highlighting the talent of the young competitors.
🏆🥇Winners and prize-winners were awarded with beautiful sports awards. 🍫 In addition, they received sweet gifts from the deputy of the Korop village council, Olena Kunitsyna. The awards ceremony was a highlight of the event, celebrating the achievements of the participants.
The awarding of the best was conducted by Viktoria Patsuk, who is a former champion of the Chernihiv region in table tennis. Her presence added prestige to the ceremony and inspired the young athletes.
