340 Pizzas! The 2nd Home Essentials Family Day was an event to behold. The photos show it all – hundreds of children singing, painting faces, drawing greeting cards, eating cotton candy, & (of course) blowing bubbles – all the while devouring 340 pizzas – basically playing. It is what kids should do, but an all too real war denies them what many call life. Many of these children have parents in the army, are refugee families, or orphans… But on this day, they were all equally happy.
As I sat with my Si Fu (mastering the art of blowing bubbles) I realized that this was one of those moments where, by grace, we were allowed to make a profound lasting impact on the lives of our community – something that we will recall as a time when everything made sense. If here, you would know these photos are worth millions of words, thousands of smiles, a lifetime of memories, a brief escape, AND 340 pizzas!
