Ми не повинні зводити себе до другорядних ролей – не тоді, коли маємо шанс разом бути великою силою. Ми не повинні погоджуватися з тим, що Європа – це лише «салат» із малих і середніх держав, приправлений ворогами Європи. Коли ми єдині, ми справді непереможні.

Європа може й повинна бути глобальною силою. Не тією, що запізно реагує, а тією, що визначає майбутнє. Це допомогло б усім – від Близького Сходу до кожного іншого регіону. Це допомогло б і самій Європі, адже виклики, з якими ми стикаємося зараз, – це виклики європейському способу життя, у якому мають значення люди і мають значення нації.

Європа може допомогти збудувати кращий світ. Європа повинна збудувати кращий світ. І світ без війни. Але для цього Європі потрібна сила. Для цього ми маємо діяти разом – і діяти вчасно. І понад усе ми повинні мати мужність діяти. Жодні інтелектуальні дискусії не здатні зупинити війни. Нам потрібні дії. Світовий порядок постає з дій. Нам просто потрібна мужність діяти. Без дій сьогодні немає завтра.

Davos. During a special session of the World Economic Forum, I addressed its participants.

We should not degrade ourselves to secondary roles – not when we have a chance to be a great power together. We should not accept that Europe is just a salad of small and middle powers, seasoned with enemies of Europe. When united we are truly invincible.

Europe can and must be a global force. Not one that reacts late, but one that defines the future. That would help everyone – from the Middle East to every other region. That would help Europe itself because the challenges we face now are challenges to the European way of life where people matter, where nations matter.

Europe can help build a better world. Europe must build a better world. And a world without war. But for that, Europe needs strength. For that, we must act together – and act in time. And most of all – we must have the courage to act. No intellectual discussions are capable of stopping wars. We need action. World order comes from action. We just need the courage to act. Without action now – there is no tomorrow.
